Validations and tests performed
The trials and tests to which our Foscusan curtain has been subjected are mainly based on its ability to increase acoustic absorption; if it manages to decrease the level of acoustic pressure, reflections and distortions of the sound are reduced, improving the quality of the sound, and the reverberation time is shortened, improving speech intelligibility.
To conduct these tests, different installation conditions were simulated, including the distance of the curtain from the window (also known as the plenum) and the curtain's overhang: 0% (roller blind type), 100% (curtain twice as wide with pleats), 150%, and 200%. The acoustic tests of Foscusan fabric, carried out in the Reverberation Chamber of the Higher Polytechnic School of Gandía (EPSG) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), were performed under real-world, practical curtain conditions. The values obtained in these tests show optimal results for using the curtains as absorbers of excessive reverberant noise, as outlined in the Basic Document on Protection against Noise (DB-HR) of the Spanish Building Technical Code (CTE).
